Rules

GemStorm is pretty easygoing. We do have a few rules when it comes to porn, site scraping, and promotion of drugs though.

  • Porn?
  • Sure! Actually, porn can be fun - and potentially lucrative too. Posting Gems that are one porn image after another is fine. Naturally, we want to keep porn images off the front page. So if you're going to post porn - and feel free - we just have three rules for it:

    - Post it into a relevant Caravan, not onto the frontpage

Trust me, there are always people looking for specifically for porn. You're not going to miss out on clicks. Posting it into a relevant Caravan means that people can find it quickly and easily - and that means more users looking for it will check out your Gem. Having a collection of one type of Gem in the same place, like a Caravan for it, means they'll have one place they can go to find a lot of it - and they'll keep going there. If you don't see a Caravan for what you're looking for, feel free to start one!

    - Make sure the images only show up once someone clicks on your Gem.

Someone's porn is another person's eye cancer! So to avoid paying for peoples' therapy bills, do us all a favor and type <!--break--> once before your images when you create your Gem. (I'll be banning people who don't.)

    - No child porn. Ever.

Just no. Whatever your feelings about it, there are severe legal and social implications to posting it. Child porn means porn involving or including humans below the age of 18. Users who post porn images of humans who are absolutely, without a doubt, for sure under 18 will be permanently banned, their IP address blocked, and all their submissions taken down. (Furs, please note that "humans" means just that.)

  • "Scraped" submissions?
  • "Scraped" submissions are content that's totally ripped from someone else's site. Posting an entire article that someone else wrote and calling it your own, for example. Linking to someone else's content is perfectly fine - that's what we do here, mostly. But stealing someone else's work is illegal, and that means it's not accepted here. Posting images is fine - there's really no way to verify who owns them. If someone proves that their image was posted here by someone else, we'll take the image down if they'd like. Otherwise, we'll assume that the images you upload are yours.

  • No sales or promotion of beer, hard alcohol, tobacco or drugs.
  • This especially includes pharmaceutical medicines and stimulators like Viagra and Cialis. This isn't from my rule, it's a requirement directly from GemStorm's hosting service.
